The Truth about Lower Abs!

Today I want to talk about a subject that is often times misunderstood; the lower abs. If you look up the muscle groups of the core in an anatomy book you will not find any muscles in the “lower abdominal” category. Why? Because they don’t exist…there are not any “lower ab muscles.” Now, from the anatomical point of view there are some “deeper” muscle groups known as the obliques and the transverse. These are the deep muscles of the abs and what most people are referring too when they talk about the core. So when you talk about the lower abs, you should really be saying “deeper abs.”
As far as getting rid of the “muffin top” layer of fat around your waist, all the crunches, leg lifts, and planks in the world won’t make a difference if you don’t get rid of the fat. To get defined abs, you must incorporate the “whole” package, good nutrition, weight training and cardiovascular exercise.
If you don’t know where to start and are looking for a new program try the Workout Wizard, it will find the perfect workout and/or nutrition plan for your goal.
